[SOLVED] GTA V crashes with ReShade 17.1 + SweetFx

If you are on Windows 7 you should make sure the platform update for Windows 7 is installed though, that may be a culprint.

I would love to give you ,and all the modders like CJay, Boris (ENB), a donate and Steam with its new modding policy will be the perfect mean to do this .
If you could find a way to integrate sweetfx in workshop , with perhaps ui improvement , directly in-game , like ENB , it'll be cool and easy for me to donate ...

Haha. Glad to help. Sometimes it's the tiniest oversight that can cause the biggest problems, especially when it comes to each individual system. I was just reading into it because I was curious, and then that popped into my head. Now, all I have to do is update my computer, and I'll be enjoying some sweet, sweet graphics.

(Starting with the effects disabled or enabled doesn't seem to do much in 0.18.0 as either of them will cause a severe framerate drop though the game works although it would be unplayable of course but I'm really glad that whatever that exception error was it's gone now so hopefully it was entirely unrelated - so I still have to find what actually caused it in the first place. - or 0.18.0 fixed it somehow.)
Took a while but I managed to replicate the error (Without ReShade loaded.) and it's just something with the game, whenever GTA V hangs (Such as when having a damaged save file.) it causes Windows to throw a Kernel exception although it doesn't crash the OS and there's no damage or corruption detected when using SFC (ScanNow) or DISM (RestoreHealth) so it's just some strange bug with the game, probably important but nothing that's related to ReShade so it's good to at least be able to rule that out.

Since release I have never been able to get V to work with Reshade. It always crashes on several versions (0.16-0.18.4) even after I installed Windows Platform Update for Win 7. I've tried every d3d11 rename possible as well but still the same APPCRASH appears after the the Social Club splash. I have the physical PC version so it isn't a Steam overlay screwing anything up either.
I'd even be fine with having a super laggy intro screen if I could just get that far. Any help or just outright telling me to just give up would be greatly appreciated.

I have win 8 64, today installed steam GTA V, and absolutely NO solutions worked for me. Nor renames, nor the disabling of the steam overlay, and restart, nor 654355 versions of reshade and/or it's engineered versions posing as "graphical mods". Always a crash at launch, when I tried to run Sweetfx+reshade.
Here's what I did, and worked:
1. rename dxgi.dll to dxgi.old
2. run the game (without the sweetfx hook, as we KILLED the dll XDD)
3. go to settings, graphics, and set "windowed" to "borderless windowed" instead of "fullscreen" or "'windowed".
4. ACTIVATE SETTINGS. (space for me, but the game tells you the key anyway)
5. Exit game.
6. Set your desktop resolution to the SAME as you use in GTA V.
YOU ALWAYS HAVE TO DO THIS BEFORE RUNNING GTA V, IF YOU CHANGED YOUR DESKTOP RES., OTHERWISE THE GAME SHOWS UP IN A WINDOW...
7. name back dxgi.old to dxgi.dll.
8. Run the game with sweetfx succesfully... !!
And it displays just like "true" fullscreen. No differences.
I tested a bit the performance, actually, at least for me, no fps drop compared to the "true" fullscreen. Not even one
The thing behind this solution, is at least with the last STEAM GTA V update, sweetfx doesn't want to run in fullscreen anymore. Nada. Period. crashes the game at launch.
At least on my Windows 8.1 64, with NVIDIA chip, with last steam GTA V version.
As some solutions worked for others, I think the devil is in THIS combination of hardware and software.
BUT: running the game in windowed mode are possible with sweetfx. But thats just ugly. And small.
So we need the borderless windowed mode, and setting the desktop to the same resolution as the game.
Still windowed, but ALL the differences removed, and the game is at least -graphically- fullscreen.
Logically not, but this is the difference we needed.
Try, try try it out, lads! I try to post it all around the net where people having trouble with win 8 64 + steam + Reshade +sweetfx.

Also I tried without any shader loaded -just dxgi.dll- and still crashing so it must be something with the game and reshade itself ????
