I have been using reshade for CS:GO ever since the beta, never had issues with it.

Also have an expensive inventory that I don't want to lose

There is always a risk though, but I doubt you will get banned for it, many people have been using it for so long in CS.

As far as I understood, Valve Anti-Cheat only bans you for known hacks. You SHOULD be safe.

Nope. You're injecting code into a game, they won't be looking into whether it's harmless or not.
But I doubt it'd be a perma-ban.

but i messaged steam support about it and they said vac only bans things that give you an advantage over anther player
so this would not get you banned
