So recently got a nostalgic kick and re-installed Portal and Portal 2.
I figured on my beefy system I can turn it all the way up to 11 with details and Reshade and knock it out of the park. And indeed 6880x2880 at 4xDSR is glorious but... it badly needs SSAO and to my surprise I can't get MXAO going because, of course, there appears no way to get the depth buffer in Source.
I always imagined Source would be one of the first and easiest engines we'd have MXAO (or similar) working through an injector. Is the engine that complex that the depth buffer can't be determined?
Has anyone had any experience trying to get the depth buffer working with Portal/Source-based games?
