First try gamma settings would not work in game. I reinstalled system and now it does. Try following settings to brighten game a bit:

R_gamma 1.3
R_intensity 1.2
R_overbrightbits 4

My problem is now is the shiny enemy models in pro mode are no longer visible\ the config file was not changed.

This happened after it crashed during first installation\ uncertain if it was windows or reshade that gave error msg:

This game did not shut down properly last time, this may be bad video settings, do you want to start in safe mode?

Is this message from reshade or windows? If windows saves a reshade config in app data where is it.?

That's a message the game outputs if it crashed the last time, nothing to be worried about (well I'm worried about the crash, but that's a different story). ReShade does not save any additional files/data/registry-entries. So the only ReShade related things are the files you copied into the game directory.

Are those enemy models visible again if you remove the ReShade DLL and change nothing else?

Tested various methods: mods of any sort just wont work after the quake3.exe is associated with the adapter . If I try to restart after
deleting your addon it crashes saying needed adapter is missing.

At this stage I think its a windows problem: thing is first time I installed it all worked except the gamma. Second time I tried it with fresh game install gamma works but the shiny models won't.

No error messages in exiting the game now. Will get back when I can figure it out. Still stunning.

:woohoo: I think I have it figured out.

2 things were messing me up: renderer_opengl1_x86_64.dll
renderer_openg21_x86_64.dll

are installed by ioquake it was these if i deleted that caused it to crash. However leaving them there seems to cause no problems.

Also: WIn10 uses a allow-apps to change program privilege on the ioquake_x86.exe program's security tab that I had to switch to allow..

Deleted all reshade files, downloaded 1.12v and now all works except in game gamma. In Sweetfx_settings.txt do this

General Settings
#define USE_TONEMAP 1 //[0 or 1]
#define USE_VIBRANCE 1 //[0 or 1]

Tonemap Settings
#define Gamma 1.200 //[0.000 to 2.000]
#define Bleach 0.065 //[0.000 to 1.000]

in addition to the changes to q3config.cfg in original post i also change r_mapoverbrightbits to 2 Enemy cpma models are not quite as shiny but are easy to see, and other mods like osp and defrag seem to work fine.

I think you can now say the problem is resolved. Use ioquake and just leave open gl files alone, it will use opengl32 with reshade.

Things work now except for explosions: a shower door glass effect appears over game (and menu).

Glad you got it solved =)
The gamma thing seems to be a bug in SweetFX 2.0.

Info for the future: ReShade sits between the game and the driver, so the game has to use the driver in order for ReShade to work. If you delete its renderers it won't do that anymore and in most cases the game will just crash (with or without ReShade), because it's expecting them to be there.
