Sharpen (all versions) is Blurring Image?

I noticed with Marvel Heroes and some other titles that all of the sharpen effects are only producing some level of antialiasing/blur (i.e. the opposite of what it should, its making the image more blurry rather than sharpening) Is there a common reason or solution for this?

You really don't provide much information for debugging, so not sure what sort of help you expect.

Thanks for the response, I assumed maybe this was a common issue/error on my part. What type of info would you need in terms of debugging? List of games where this is happening so far is Borderlands 2, Painkiller, UltraSF4... so it seems it is not limited to one particular engine (unreal, stingray etc). I already prefer a sharp/grainy look so I have AA/blur off whenever possible, not sure if that is what is maybe causing the issue
