4.02 crashes with all games and restart is needed. was created by Animani
This is weird or is not but I have been using the latest version of Reshade with every game using a 980Ti and previous to the October Windows updated. Now I bought a 2080 and the 4.02 stopped working and it crashes every game so bad I have to restart in order to be able to run any other Reshade version. Would this be caused by Windows, Nvidia drivers or RTX itself?

One suggestion would be to try and disable NVIDIA Ansel and see how it works without that.

Start that, toggle the last option to disable and apply.
(EDIT: You can always re-enable it much the same way of course.)
Ansel should in theory respect and work via a whitelist system but since a earlier NVIDIA driver branch it injects into everything even if the game or software is not Ansel enabled so off with it and try and see how that works, there's also Experience but I think it can just be shut down if it's running in the background.
If it's not that then D3D11.dll instead of DXGI.dll for the ReShade file could also be one way it might load.
And if it's Windows 10 and some fun stuff changed as of the recent builds there then you can go to the properties for Ryse.exe and into compatibility and from there disable Full-Screen Optimizations.
Beyond that there's just dependencies and that's VC++ 2017 (Replacing 2015) the latest as of yesterdays update would be these:

14.16.27024.1 Newer versions mostly resolve security problems though not functionality or compatibility although there can be fixes for these too on occasion.
If 2015 or a earlier 2017 version is installed it'll be uninstalled before, any running programs depending on VC++ will either need to be closed or you'll be prompted for a reboot if they are running since it can't replace some files due to being in use currently.
That is about all I can suggest, updating from one Windows build to another can also be wonky with the display driver as it gets re-installed in the process so a uninstall and install of the latest driver doesn't hurt either.
Absolute latest I believe is 417.58 from December 30th.

EDIT: Bit of a checklist really, the game works so if the display driver was misbehaving after the OS update well it's probably not that.

Thanks for taking the time mate. Ryse was just an example it happens with every game I had working before using 4.02. Will try the suggestions and I will report back.

I got to thank you for suggesting a few things. VC++ made some of the games work but not all of them. Not entirely sure why.
- Disabling Ansel changed nothing.
- d3dll.dll doesn't work. The file is totally ignored and it doesn't load Reshade.
- Disable Full-Screen Opt. Didn't either.
Any other suggestion?

After installing the latest drivers you suggested DOS2 works but there are still some others that don't. Any clue about anything else that could have been damaged or needs to have an updated version?
Actually, let me check every single game and I will report back with a log. Do logs help in any way to narrow down the problem?

For now is just one game. Haven't tested all of them but will report if its more than one. But thanks again man because VC_redist and the latest hotfix was the culprit.

If a game doesn't work with one, try another. Some games, even if they're using one particular interface, may still hook another dll.

That makes sense. Thanks for pointing that out. I always thought it was double L instead of 11. My bad. You know what? The game that wasn't working before it does now by using d3d11.dll
