Hello, sorry if this has been asked before, but I couldn't find anything on it from google besides using an edited reshade, and I'd rather just fix it on the base install. There was a recent controversy with Gshade, and a lot of people swapped back to reshade for FFXIV.

All my presets transferred over from gshade fine, but I noticed that some shadow effects would flicker, so I investigated and realized it was this addon which seems to be a default reshade one. On GShade, this effect appeared to work without flickering, on reshade it's because of high network activity or something, and since it's an MMO, I figured that was the reason.

examples of the effect.

is there a way to fix this, or should I look for a shader that could apply the same sort of shadow effect, possibly? Any recommendations? Thanks!

Can use the ReShade build with full add-on support, which also doesn't block add-ons when there is network traffic: reshade.me/#download

Note that this build is not generally meant for multiplayer games (anti-cheat software will not have it allow-listed), so use at your own risk. But presumably fine in your particular case, considering that third-party ReShade forks like GShade didn't cause bans either and everybody is now using this variant in that game.
