Hi everyone.
You have likely heard about MartyMcFly's experimental Reshade mod that enables raytracing in games that allow depth buffer access. There have been plenty of videos, the first one made by Digital Foundry with Crysis, showcasing the potential of raytracing via Reshade.
However, as you know there are some games that do not provide depth buffer access. To that end,
thalixte's mod
could do the trick, particularly for DX12 games. Of course Reshade doesn't officially support DX12 yet, but
crosire is working on it
and one of the features currently missing is depth buffer access detection/modification.
My question is, then, if it's possible to combine the WIP Reshade DX12 build with the mods from thalixte and MartyMcFly so that all games, including those running on DX12 API and those that do not provide depth buffer access by default, may be raytracing compatible. Do you think that's feasible? Thank you in advance
.
P.S.: it would also be great for GeForce RTX owners as well since DXR only works under DX12 (or Vulkan). They could potentially get their hardware exploited when enabling raytracing in DX12 games.
