Recreating The Old Gemfx features with reshade. 1 year 3 weeks ago #1

At the moment I'm using Gemfx 1.0.9.0 on fallout 4 with reshade hooked to it and I'm really happy with the results. The thing a lot of the games i try crash on start up with reshade hooked to Gemfx. I don't know what it is about the old gemfx features but as much as i try I can never do what it does in Reshade and I'm not exactly sure what it is I'm meant to be doing even to recreate them.

So here's a picture of what I mean. The first is only Reshade and the second is Reshade hooked to Gemfx (Realistic Shader) with reshade hooked to it.

Reshade only.

Reshade And the old Gemfx.

The way everything blends together with GEMFX is something I just cant seem to get in the reshade framework. The ambient light is the same as far as I'm aware and there's a lot of gaussian going on there but what else is it apart from those?

Ordering can make a lot of difference and maybe you have motion blur activated?

Most shader I have ported 1:1 and then improved from there. The only thing not ported are the color presets but for that you have so many tools in ReShade.

There is quiet a few things that I would do different now and for CA (TW) games I will continue with a proprietary GEM in order to improve my C++ skills (if there is ever time besides ReShade) but a lot has to be changed.

The motion blur isn't activated, its just the default realistic shader with the ambient light turned down a little and motion blur turned off. It could just be the color shaders and gaussian working together nicely then I'm not sure.

Other than that all I have activated is the pseudo ssao. No matter what i do within the reshade framework though I can't get that nice foggy looking blending effect.

Did you try out the gaussian shader by Ioxa in the framework?
