Good film grain preset as dithering? was created by MonarchX
I just realized that film grain can be used to get rid of banding, almost the same way as dithering. Does anyone have any advice on settings for whichever film grain shader? It needs to be really fine, I think.

You have to be aware that dithering only prevents banding. So if that's what you're looking for, then put noise shader on top of the load order.

There is now an excellent dithering shader I got added into the repo called TriDither.fx. You can install it with the ReShade installer now.

I can't believe i missed this! What does TriDithering in terms of dither? Is like random noise or ordered noise or the unspeakably-impossible-to-achieve error diffusing noise?

How exactly do I use TriDither? It is supposed to apply the effect without anything changed in the TriDither.fx? I see 0 dithering on obvious banding with TriDither enabled...
