"reverse" eye adaptation?

Might it be possible to create something like eye adaptation that actually darkens the entire screen in dark scenes rather than lightening it? A shader like that would be massively useful for darkening night scenes without darkening everything else too severely.

You can achieve this with the current Eye Adaption by changing "BrightenCurve" to a negative value.
