You can use tiltshift to achieve a faux-dof look. Just set the blurring amount to something very low and the raise the other number a lot, sorry I can't remember the name of the settings in that shader right now, but you can achieve a dof-ish look with it. Of course, it'll blur any hud/ui elements at the top or bottom of the screen, but you don't really need them in my memory.
