Hi everyone. I've been using reshade on different versions of flight simulators for years, and have never encountered an issue as persistent at this. It is literally driving me crazy lolI'm experiencing severe banding in the sky when using Reshade with Microsoft Flight Simulator (MSFS). My setup is quite robust, and despite following all standard troubleshooting steps, the issue persists. Here are the details of my setup and the problem:System Specifications:
- GPU: RTX 4090
- Monitor: 34-inch ultrawide, 10-bit color, fully calibrated
- Connection: DisplayPort
- Drivers: Up-to-date NVIDIA drivers
- Reshade Version: Latest
- MSFS: Latest version
Reshade Configuration:
- Shaders Used:
- Prod80_Color (for cooler temperature)
- Prod80_Brightness (for brighter scenes)
- Issue: Severe banding in the sky especially during sunset or when the sky is darker blue (directly above me)
Troubleshooting Steps Taken:
- Drivers: Confirmed all drivers are up to date.
- Monitor Settings: Monitor is set to 10-bit color and calibrated for best color accuracy.
- NVIDIA Control Panel: Set to 10-bit color depth, other settings at default.
- DisplayPort Cable: Using a brand new, high-quality DisplayPort cable.
- Reshade Preset: Using the same preset as others who do not experience this issue.
- Reshade Version: Updated to the latest version.
- In-Game Settings: Experimented with HDR and other color settings in MSFS.
- Effect Order: Tried reordering the shaders in Reshade, no luck
Despite these efforts, the banding issue remains and is significantly noticeable compared to other users who use the same preset and shaders. When Reshade is disabled, the banding completely disappears, indicating that Reshade is indeed the cause.Additional Observations:
- Each of the Prod80 shaders contributes to the banding slightly, but the compound effect is quite severe.
- Banding is most prominent in gradient-rich areas like the sky.
Request for Assistance:I would greatly appreciate any suggestions or insights from the community on how to resolve this issue. Specifically:
- Are there any specific settings within the Prod80 shaders or Reshade that I should adjust to mitigate this issue? (I have tried deband.fx, determined the cons outweigh the pros, like the diminished detail on textures etc)
- Has anyone else experienced similar problems and found a solution?
Thank you in advance for your help!
