Reshade not installing or crashing game

I had Reshade installed and working fine this morning. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling to the newer version ( was on 5.0.2) to either 5.2.1 or 6.7.2.

I am using reshade for FFXI.

After I installed 5.2.1, it still said 5.0.2 is installed. So I decided to uninstall all of reshade and do a clean install.

Uninstall doesn't work. It did not remove ANY FILES or folders from the destination folder. I had to manually delete every file n folder related to reshade in my FFXI folders.

Now here comes the problem, When I go to install either 5.2.1 or 5.0.2 or 6.7.2, FFXI isn't recognizing it.

I open reshade as admin, click on the game I want, select the DX I want, "select presets to install" part should be automatically navigating to my preset.ini, but it doesn't. I manually navigate to it. After selecting the folder, i click next and reshade installs. I can visibly see the files in my POL folder.

When I run the game, Reshade never starts. Not sure why, but the files are there. I had it working this morning so i'm not sure what i'm missing

if anyone can help with this i'd appreciate it.

Common problem with FF players is that there are actually multiple installations of the game and you are not choosing the active one in the ReShade setup tool. You can follow guides.martysmods.com/additionalguides/findexecutable to find the right one.
