Hi, I'm having a problem trying to run Guild Wars 2 with either ReShade framework or ReShade with SweetFX.
The thing is, everything worked before Thursday's fall/November/threshold 2 update for Windows 10, but now... it won't.
I'm using the same drivers for my GPU and I made extra sure DirectX 9 is still installed.

I can get past the launcher but once I click play there, the game runs somewhere in the background and the d3d9.log shows the following:

I am having the same problem. During troubleshooting I discovered the problem is an issue with nVidia drivers. I am on a laptop with nVidia Optimus and if I run the graphics though the Intel HD Graphics Guild Wars 2 will start up with ReShade. I've completely uninstalled the drivers and the GeForce Experience and let windows install it's current default which is 353 (nvidia's newest is 358.) I am going to try getting a beta driver to see if that helps.

If you're running an AMD card and having the same issue let me know so I can try another angle.

UPDATE 1: Beta drivers didn't help. Going to try and roll back drivers as far as they can go in Windows 10.

I'm also on a laptop and running it on the Intel GPU (HD Graphics 4600) indeed works, but the Intel GPU is garbage so I'd rather not consider this a solution :D

Hahaha, definitely not.

It seems my geforce 820M isn't compatible with many of the releases so testing it limited there, but from what I could test nothing worked. I am going to update the Intel drivers and see if that doesn't help. It could be an issue during Optimus switching from the desktop to the game.

Okay, so that didn't work. There WAS an update from 10.something to 15.something but when it tried to install my computer had 4 strokes and a seizure then reverted back. I'm not going to bother with that again. I am going to get nvidia inspector and see if there is something in there that will work.

Nothing. NOTHING. I am out of ideas now. I may just factory reset back to Windows 8 if someone smarter than me can't rescue us.

EDIT: And it's apparently just Guild Wars 2 (of the games I own) that's effected. I didn't think of testing a different game because I've played the hell out of them and didn't care.

I've noticed AMD also updated their beta drivers today and tried running the game with those but still no luck.

Funny enough, I've already gotten used to playing without SweetFX and the game actually doesn't look that ugly as it does initially, when you play without the extra effects for the first few times :D

Can confirm it is not the windows update, it is related to the graphic card drivers. When you use msconfig and disable all none windows services the game starts fine but fps is too low to play the game.

I hope there is a solution. I have tried to revert to an older driver version however windows BSOD with the generic insufficient power message.

Haven't played the game in a few weeks, saw this and decided to try the game but it's still working here, using the 64-bit client though.

(ReShade 1.1 with the latest shader pack from Github.)

ReShade is installed manually to C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\bin64 with ReShade64.dll named d3d9.dll

The game is being launched with the following parameters but that shouldn't make a difference, just so I don't need to type in the log-in info all the time but it still goes via the launcher/updater and not immediately in-game.
" C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\Gw2-64.exe" -autologin -bmp "

EDIT: AMD GPU with the 15.12 drivers, unsure if it would be different for Nvidia but I do not see why display drivers would be causing issues with ReShade unless the compatibility profile for the game in the newest drivers is doing something weird.
(MSI Afterburner is additionally used to cap the framerate in most games I'm playing, no hardware API monitoring though so it doesn't really conflict with anything else, just a FPS cap and screenshot tool.)

Windows version is Win10 with the fall update (Build 105xx instead of 10240) been thinking of trying insider again and "Redstone" (Build 11xxx) but I've decided to wait until it's available for the slow channel, this first release probably has a number of known issues and other bugs will probably be discovered by testers as well.
(Which is the point of the insider program I suppose, testing and reporting feedback and bug reports and possible suggestions too.)

CPU is a 3930K bit old and not one of those that have the iGPU chip, GPU itself is a AMD Fury, third party model from Sapphire, Vapor-X OC something.
(Not too bad though the real upgrades won't be until these new die-shrink GPU's hit the market later this year I suppose.)

I tried your shortcuts and it's still not working same problem. Confirmed mine is a Intel 4600 graphics with amd HD 8000m series.

Windows 10 version 1511 (OS Build 10586.36)

Further investigation was done on the 12 Jan. Using the Radeon monitoring software the following was observed. With the reshade dll in the folder the GPU in used was the intel (power saving). When I removed the dll it is using the AMD (High Performance) and everything is working fine. I think we will have to wait for version 1.1.1 for a working solution.

Similar problem here. W10 with latest Nvidia WHQL driver. Game stops when "Compiling effects..." appears on character choosing screen. I can move mouse cursor, but game hangs at this black screen. Is there any workaround for this problem? I'm missing Reshade soo much. :(
