I have steam overlay globally disabled. I don't use it at all.
It is the steam Wizardry I have installed but the Wizardry enhanced mod 0.9 RC doesn't use the executable from the steam version anyway. It uses the Wiz8_v1261.exe. You launch the game with the Wiz8+.exe. Did you run the game with the Wiz8+.exe?
My 3DVideo.CFG file looks like this:

UPDATE: I did a fresh install of wizardry 8 with newest reshade and it worked fine. Next, I did the opengl patch and still fine. Next, the widescreen extender and still fine. Lastly, I installed the wizardry 8 Enhanced 0.9 RC and launched the game with the Wiz8+.exe and the Wiz8_v1261.exe crashed. Maybe you didn't launch the mod with Wiz8+.exe?
