Reshade 3.1.0 Black Overlay Menu

Hi,
I've tried applying reshade to few old games like LoK Soul Reaver 2 or LoK Defiance - each time i encounter the same issue - the reshade overlay is entirely black (even the effects loading prompt) - can't see anything nor do any configuration
I've tried it as DX9 solo and also with the d3d8to9 dll for converter placed in game folder - same thing - menu still black as satan's anus.
Does anyone of you fine people know how to fix that perhaps?
