For some reason the installation works fine (both through the exe and manual install) however when i run the game there are no noticeable changes in the game even though reshade says the compile succeeded

What version are you using?

Note: I think "enabled" is off by default now

if you are using the framework there is this line in ReShade/Common_settings.cfg
#define RFX_Start_Enabled 1 //[0 or 1] Start with the effects enabled or disabled?

sometimes I had to alt+tab in and out of the game for Reshade to trigger.

It definitely works. This is what I did:

  • Run MassEffectConfig.exe as admin
  • Run Mass Effect and exit it. (probably not required)
  • Copy SweetFX folder, Sweet.fx file and ReShade32.dll to Mass Effect/Binaries (where the game exe is)
  • Rename ReShade32.dll to d3d9.dll
  • Enable my required effects in SweetFX/SweetFX_settings.txt
  • Run Mass Effect
