Been trying to use ReShade with R6S's Vulkan option, hasn't been able to load it. It runs on regular DX Siege, I also tried it with Vulkan on RDR2 to make sure it wasn't just a Vulkan thing, but that worked as well. I am not quite sure what the issue is.
At first, I tried using version 5.4.2, but that didn't work, so I went to the troubleshooting page, rolled back to version 4.9.1 and both left it open after install to let it inject and turned on global Vulkan injection as the page suggested yet to no avail.

That about brings us to here.
Thanks in advance to anyone able to help

I think a new security measure was added to R6 and it places a copy of R6 EXE in AppData user directory.

I figured it out and got it working! It required a few steps:

1. Make sure ReShade64.dll and ReShade64.json exist in "C:\ProgramData\ReShade" directory and apply ReShade Vulkan Implicit Layers registry entries:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Khronos\Vulkan\ImplicitLayers] "C:\\ProgramData\\ReShade\\ReShade64.json"=dword:00000000
2. Copy ReShade-Shaders directory, ReShade.ini, ReShade64.dll, and ReShadePreset.ini files to "C:\Users\*Username*\AppData\Local\Ubisoft\r6siege\*Patch Version*" directory, to which the game should've already copied RainbowSix_Vulkan.exe as part of its "Updating Security Measures" initiative. Otherwise place ReShade-Shaders directory, ReShade.ini, ReShade64.dll, and ReShadePreset.ini files into original Rainbow Six: Siege directory with RainbowSix_Vulkan.exe.
3. Edit "C:\Users\*Username*\Documents\My Games\Rainbow Six - Siege\*ID#*\GameSettings.ini" with:
VulkanWhitelistedLayers=VK_LAYER_reshade

P.S. If you also experience issues (such as flickering) when using RivaTuner Statistics Server (RTSS) to limit FPS in Rainbow Six: Siege running on Vulkan renderer, then edit "C:\Users\*Username*\Documents\My Games\Rainbow Six - Siege\*ID#*\GameSettings.ini" with:
VulkanWhitelistedLayers=VK_LAYER_RTSS;VK_LAYER_reshade

Could you explain in more layman's terms

So for example. Where do I even find the ReShade Vulkan Implicit Layers Registry entries to add [HKEY.....

Secondly, in the GameSettings.ini. Does this work anywhere in the file? Or under a specific subheading

Finally, do we have to set any of these to read only to ensure the game doesn't mess with them?

Thanks in advance

Hey, I know this is old, but I made up a 3 min tutorial for anyone trying to get reshade working on siege in 2025.

Just wanted to drop this here for anyone coming across via google.
