Potplayer uses extensions written in Angel Script. I haven't updated the extension to use the updated file name of dxdg.dll. In short to update Reshade, I take the dxdg.dll and rename it to Reshade32.dll and put it in the folder. Which has been working since Reshade 3.4.
After running the tests, neither Reshade.ini or ReshadeGUI.ini is updating. I'm starting to think that this might be a M$ "security feature." I'm going to re-try 5.1 because I'm getting some reports that it is working now. I tested it when it first came out, and it didn't work...
It's strange because there's nothing in the Windows Defender controlled folder access log. I'll try installing the program in a different folder. It's also strange because file explorer has updated "Date modified" time stamp, but the changes aren't actually being made into Reshade.ini or ReshadeGUI.ini. Reshade.log does update and it saves the changes.

Replied by oakiyo on topic 5.3 - Settings not saving when re-loading game (Sims 4)
When I open the Sims 4 and customise the settings in Reshade to my desired shortcuts like screenshot path, screenshot key and overlay toggle, after I close my game and re-open it, Reshade it set back to default as though I'd just installed it, giving me the option to skip or continue with the tutorial and all my keys are reset. Any help is greatly appreciated.

This was a good hint. I think I understand what is happening now. ReShade is initialized multiple times because the game/app is creating multiple swap chains for the same window (in the log from earlier you can see two "Running on NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti" log entries). Both instances read/write to the ReShade.ini config file. But only the last instance is the one that actually loaded effects and is the one you see and change settings in. Now when the game/app closes, ReShade flushes all changed settings and writes them to ReShade.ini. But since there are two instances, they both try to do that and unfortunately the first one (which was never used and has no changed settings) writes last and overwrites everything that the second one contains. Need to uniquely identify each instance somehow and/or use different config files for them. It's also strange because file explorer has updated "Date modified" time stamp, but the changes aren't actually being made into Reshade.ini or ReshadeGUI.ini. Reshade.log does update and it saves the changes.
EDIT: Should be fixed in ReShade 5.4.
