Ty for the reply. I've tried using R. with full addon support in MS Store version of the game and it crashed as usual during initial logo/warning screen. I then tried putting RESHADE_DISABLE_NETWORK_HOOK=1 into PreprocessorDefinitions of Reshade.ini file and it crashed at usual spot again. I then renamed dxgi.dll into d3d12.dll and to my surprise it worked, at least for now. Will see how stable it is.

Having a bit of an issue, going from 5.1 to this version makes the screen randomly go black in Watch Dogs 2, alt-tabbing or switching fullscreen/windowed mode fixes it temporarily.

Crashing in Dead By Daylight
With Reshade not installed no crashes. With Reshade installed but nothing selected no crashes. Enabling anything most times, 8 out of 10 attempts crashes while loading a match, once or twice out of 10 times it makes it until after the match and then crashes. Same looking error each time, included screenshot. Also get occasional black screen but alt-tab in & out fixes that and doesn't always happen.

Hello, first time talking here. I use reshade daily to advanced functions to push the engine of vit-a-mate beyond.
Reshades d3d11 used in release 4.9.1 worked flawlessly however upgrading to 5.2.1 (reshade only gives you dxgi.dll) it gives the error "unable to save preset to path" permission error.
I thought it was my fault but I managed to replicate it by installing on other clean installs to different drives of the same game.
However when forcing 5.2.1 to load with 4.9.1s d3d11 it does not give the error, the functions are incredibly limited but it proves that it has to be the DXGI.dll causing the problem.
the default preset is in the same location as the game exe and reshade, I have full write permissions, I am the sysadmin, re-taken ownership, folders are not read-only.
It has to be that dxgi.dll.
I have also disabled all windows defender settings as well as add folder and file exception.
I have to get this version working as marty mcflys rtgi only works on reshade 5 now
I should also add that using reshade 5.1 it didn't give this error. only 5.2.1 does
EDit: I just redownloaded 5.1 to try it, same problem, I'm guessing the dxgi.dll is the same one between the two now

Assassin's Creed Valhalla has stuttering issues and major texture glitching issues with 5.2.1. There is a thing where if you go to the add-ons tab when just starting up the game it crashes but it's not really big deal since it's fine when you're in the game.

Make sure your graphics driver is up-to-date. I had tested AC Valhalla extensively and without issues with 5.2.1, to ensure there are no performance problems anymore (there aren't on the two different systems I ran). But I remember seeing flickering textures etc. with a previous driver. May want to use DDU first just to be sure.Assassin's Creed Valhalla has stuttering issues and major texture glitching issues with 5.2.1. This is unrelated to the ReShade version and occurs with either. It just means ReShade is unable to access either ReShade.ini or your preset file (detail ReShadePreset.ini) in the game directory, which is common if you installed a game to C:\Program Files (apart from Steam), as that directory has permissions set up to disallow normal users writing there by default. You'll need to make the game directory writable for your user (see e.g. www.addictivetips.com/windows-tips/chang...missions-windows-10/ on how) or run the game as adminstrator.it gives the error "unable to save preset to path" permission error.
That's a driver crash (doesn't necessarily matter if it appears to only happen with ReShade, ReShade just complicates things and can make it more apparent). So same advise, to update your graphics driver.Crashing in Dead By Daylight
This is an environment variable ReShade accepts (see e.g. www.addictivetips.com/windows-tips/how-t...-user-in-windows-10/ on how to set one), not a preprocessor definition, so adding it to ReShade.ini doesn't really do anything. But glad to hear you figured out a workaround.I then tried putting RESHADE_DISABLE_NETWORK_HOOK=1 into PreprocessorDefinitions of Reshade.ini file

Thank you for taking the time to reply
So I have taken ownership of the folder. It has always been in another drive S:/VAM and reshade is installed in there, with the exe running as admin, the reshade.ini as well as the presets are also under my ownership, not set to read-only.
It works fine if I force it to use the old d3d11.dll but the moment I introduce dxgi.dll as its runtime it just gives me the permission error.
I have a friend trying to nut this out and his works okay, he is on windows 11 and I am windows 10 pro. What else can I try?
I have tried to change the folder attributes through the security tab but it seems to be disabled, and after trying all the fixes to re-enable that folder it won't come back, but that's outside the scope of what I need help with.
It is specifically a problem with running that dxgi.dll and it accessing any new presets the exe makes whereas the same presets are fine to access with the older dll.
If theres any more information I can supply please tell me
EDIT: The same friend finally has the same error. it seems if the preset contains enabled shaders then it won't give the error if any values for those shaders are changed, however enabling a new shader that hasn't been used yet will cause it to error.
We both are solo-user and admins on our systems

It's still unlikely to be related to ReShade (the DLL is ReShade), but a system configuration issue. I suggest you ask in the #help channel on Discord, can get help on how to configure things correctly there.

Replied by wtfisgoingon on topic 5.2
In Dead By Daylight I was using a fresh fully updated install of Win 11 21H2 then I used DDU and installed 512.95. For the hell of it I also used DDU and tried 512.77 and then 512.59 all with identical results.
Without Reshade 5.2.1 I was able to play more than 15 hours in more than 50 full matches over the last few days zero crashes.
With Reshade 5.2.1 the game crashes most of the time as the match is loading and occasionally at the end of the first match with the same error. This happens 100% of the time without fail, matches are ~10 minutes long for the record.
Just now before posting this I decided to try all 3 drivers again trying to play a match twice in a row, just to make sure, and exact same results. Always crashes with 5.2.1
If anything I can do or provide to help please let me know!

The depth buffer detection is very unreliable with the latest Reshade. No matter what combination of settings I use, the correct depth buffer changes placement on the list depending on what happens in-game and thus it has to be constantly adjusted manually.
There was no such problem with 4.9.2(unofficial taken from discord). While neither version can detect the correct buffer automatically, with the earlier Reshade the correct one stays selected the rest of the session regardless of what happens in-game.
