I can see how some people are frustrated with rewritten code and having to update. It sucked just migrating to the new version for me. But now that I have my ini's down, and I only use SMAA thank god, I feel like this version is really nice for me at last. Easy to install and keep track of. I doubt I will need another version after this for my purposes.
It's never been easy keeping up with all my games just with SMAA as I had to delete all previous installs, and I bet it is frustrating when people have tons of shaders. Luckily, I don't. I like the UI here, at least where it seems to be going. I am sure some improvements could be made.

Just reg an account to say thanks.
Can you also add Elite Dangerous to the games list? There's issue with the ship UI and generally it's very usable.
The depth filter is really kinda fun btw lol

I give up... With every new version there is new UI method of doing things and I spend about 5x more time trying to figure things than time I spend playing the game. I re-install each version from scratch and yet in some games Shift + F2 works and Home doesn't work, while in other games its vice versa. I cannot figure out how to assign keys to each shader individually.
Before 4.0.2, it at least made sense how to assign toggle keys - across from the shader shown in main window, but now I have no idea WTH is going on. There is space to assign toggle keys , but it doesn't tell you for which shader. There are 2 spaces. Why only 2? What if I have 5 shader FX I want to toggle on/off individually to see how they affect the image? I think its like an on/off for all the shaders installed, just with 2 slots... Its also no longer a toggle thing, but a hold thing...
There is also no way to change LUT's PNG's within the UI. I keep them all in same directory, they are PNG files, I should be able to adjust TYPE their file names and have them loaded, but UI just points to the directory where they all sit and changing LUT's can be done only outside the game, within actual files. Typing file names does nothing.
Is this how development will continue?
ReShade 2.0.3f1 was the last good version that was easy and enjoyable to install + use, hassle-free, none of that confusing UI integration and on top of that supported proper dithering. I really wish there was a separate fork of ReShade 4.X that would be like 2.0.3f1 in regards to customization, simple file-only approach, without need for individual profiles and confusing config files from version to version...

It does take a bit of work and changing the shaders now means you have to go to a older commit for the 3.x versions although there might be a fork or clone for these for ease of use for existing presets. (Which well not every preset maker will update and make compatible presets that are months to years old after all.)
Must be even tougher when you use multiple shaders or even custom shaders for games and having to edit these if anything changes, slide or drag should both work but the UI overall is quite changed so even with a singular preset mainly for SMAA it took some looking into the config file and re-adjusting and moving over any new and changed settings from the Github data.
SPIR-V for eventual Vulkan compatibility (Though going by DXVK it might already work?) and other improvements and the bug fixes (And 4.0.3 and the commits on Github for that fixing even more when that's release ready.) are most welcome but it does take a bit of work updating existing presets and settings though I can see it being useful moving forward and the UI has some nice enhancements but it's not without a bit of work and re-learning how things act in this new version.

Right-click on a shader, you can assign an individual key. Multiple shaders can be assigned to the same key (same as before).MonarchX wrote: Before 4.0.2, it at least made sense how to assign toggle keys - across from the shader shown in main window, but now I have no idea WTH is going on. Or use github how it's intended. Here's the tree right before the breaking change to v4.0:
github.com/crosire/reshade-shaders/tree/...340a66495ac1ac059c85
So simply click the green button in the top right corner which says 'clone or download' and then select 'download zip', done

Oh, right, good idea. Github is an advanced-level website, took a while before I figured out where the "normal download" is as opposed to "download source code"OtisInf wrote: Or use github how it's intended. Here's the tree right before the breaking change to v4.0:

You can swap the download URL and it's version number to anything between 3.0 and 4.0 far as I know.
For 3.0 it would be this:
reshade.me/downloads/ReShade_Setup_3.0.0.exe
I suppose a archive under the main download wouldn't be a terrible idea if 3.0 and newer is still on the server.
In the long run compatibility might improve but it entirely depends on why some versions break in certain games and it's not like Crosire could personally acquire and test every single title either.
And then there's anti-cheat and other restrictions from some software, I don't know how GTA V with GTA Online is handling injectors these days though but I know they had a pretty strong stance on modding and file adjustments for a while.

Greetings to all. After installing 4.02 and removing it there was no version of 4 versions not working before installing 4.02, version 4.01 worked fine. No action helps to return at least version 4.01. Works only with 3.4.1

Seeing a lot of shade (no pun intended) being thrown, so just wanted to create an account to say thanks to Crosire and everyone else involved in this project. From a user's perspective, I personally love 4.02!
I can significantly enhance any game I've tried so far but just quickly dropping in Curves, AdaptiveSharpen and SMAA with default settings. If I do feel like tweaking them or playing with new shaders, it's easier and faster to experiment than ever before.
So... thanks!!!!
