Hi folks,
I'm hoping somebody can nudge me in the right direction to fix a problem I seem to have when using Reshade with Starfield...
I'm pretty newly back into PC gaming after a 7/ 8 year hiatus with consoles, so apologies if I'm a bit dumb with some of this stuff... 

OK, so basics...
I'm playing Starfield via the XBox app, cheapskate playing via GamePass 
 
The game works perfectly fine without Reshade installed.

I'm trying to use: Quantum Reshade  (currently ver: 1.65)  
Which is basically a preset, and requires the installation of Reshade (currently using ver: 5.9.2_Addon)

I'm following the instructions provided by the preset author to the letter. however, when launching the game, it initially starts up... the launch windows opens with the title screen and jumps into full screen mode with the start menu. Clicking 'Continue' or choosing a save file to launch opens up the file with a loading screen and right at the point it would fire up the actual gameplay it crashes straight back to desktop.

Oddly, I did have the preset working a few days ago but it stopped working when Bethesda released a patch a day or two ago and I've not had it working since. I've uninstalled Reshade, reinstalled etc... to no success. 

I do have a bunch of other mods installed, and again the game works fine with these mods and without Reshade. If any of these mods are causing a problem with Reshade, then I would imagine it's the first two in the list. Unfortunately, they're not something I'm willing to ditch... at least not until Bethesda is willing to integrate DLSS 3.5 properly.

With this 5.9.2 and the previous version or two, I've isolated a new bug with this game to be caused by reshade.

Only effects used are Lumasharpen and Vibrance.

It happens most frequently when using Alt+Esc to minimize as soon as the game loads along with reshade and then opening the game again soon thereafter as well as opening and closing Steam's overlay. Steam's overlay seems to exarcerbate the issue but even having had it disabled, the issue persists. The issue is exacerbated by minimizing the game, less so after the game has loaded, and less still when not minimizing throughout the entire time since the load of the game however it still happens and when it does it's when a match starts, ends, or somewhere in between. During the match, instead of freezing, there may appear a full screen wide random texture from the game overlayed and streched fullscreen but the game continues to run. Minimizing and returning to the game removes the glitched overlayed fullscreen random texture, but the freeze/hang becomes imminent when interacting with the menu or just when the next match begins to load upon the following loading screen. If not then, at the end of the match.

Oh! (edit) I forgot to mention that Alt+Esc no longer works and the game can no longer be minimized. Ctrl+Shift+Esc opens UAC to allow the Task Manager to open but the game turns into a frozen black screen. Alt+Tab does not work. WinKey+Tab, however does show the window selection menu but choosing the task manager or anything else fails while the frozen game persists to return to its frozen fullscreen state. I was able to move the frozen game onto a new desktop using the WinKey+Tab method and that allowed me to access the programs from the original desktop thus the Task Manager to kill the game avoiding having to hard reset my system.

I've played extensively with it uninstalled and this bug has never reproduced.

This tool is fantastic. The gloomy, soft graphics of this game is a bummer of an eye sore and being able to use ReShade to give it new life but adding a bit of sharpness and pop to the color greatly improves the experience.

Any advice on how to troubleshoot this issue would be wholly appreciated. It's my favorite game!

For the record, I had been troubleshooting this for 48 hours now since I hesitantly updated Reshade for Final Fantasy XIV.

The following shaders have failed to compile:
BRDF.fx
NTSCCustom.fx
NTSC_XOT.fx
RetroTV.fx

I've scoured the web--well, mainly GitHub--to find updated versions of these shaders to replace them. It hasn't worked for all of them (mainly RetroTV and NTSC_XOT), and for NTSCCustom, it'll work while I'm online, but once I restart my computer, it doesn't work at all. BRDF.fx doesn't want to be fixed no matter what I do.

I've even done a fresh "wipe all the files and plug it all back in" reinstall, and still nothing. I try to uninstall it, but then it says that the dxgi.dll file is in use elsewhere--I don't use Reshade for any other game, and I do this after I've shut off XIV, and even restarted the computer. Something is trying to access it, and I don't know where.

I've also tried to update my graphics drivers, but I've had a problem doing so since April.

I'm just really stumped, y'all.

So, I tried to use reshade on Roblox but i noticed that the menu didn't open. I tried every Insert button, Home Button but to no avail. I tried to uninstall it and reinstall it but it didn't work. I looked at the reshade notepad thing, and it was empty compared to the other tutorial youtubers on reshade i've seen. I really need some help for this please and thank you.

The game does not start when you have the reshade installed, I had been using it for a while but from one day to the next the game stopped opening, looking for solutions I realized that when I uninstalled the reshade the game started as it did regularly but once you installed the reshade reshade the game no longer starts
It is not my problem since several friends who also used it had the same problem and they had to uninstall reshade to be able to play

I have tried installing, repairing and uninstalling both the actual game and reshade multiple times but it never loads with the game, this has happened for months.

is there a way to use reshade with roblox?

same here💔, it crashes every time i join lobby in dbd, when i tried to uninstall and played 4 games it didn't crash at all! so i thought it was okay to re-install Reshade again and it won't crash. but NOPE i was wrong because it just keeps crashing again and again

You can uninstall Reshade using the setup file.
  • Locate the ReShade setup file. This is the setup file you used to download ReShade initially. You can usually find it in your computer's Downloads folder.
  • If you can't find the setup file, download it again from reshade.me
  • While you can delete the mod folders of games such as Minecraft and The Sims 4, ReShade takes a few different steps.
Double-click the ReShade setup file. The setup window will open.
Select your game and click Next. You'll see a list of popular games in the window.
  • If you don't see your game, click Browse… below the list. Navigate to the game's folder and select the .exe file. Click Open, then Next.
Select the rendering API and click Next. If you don't know which rendering API the game client uses, search for the game at Look for the section titled API.
  • With most games, this will be Microsoft DirectX 10/11/12.
  • Select the rendering API and click Next. If you don't know which rendering API the game client uses, search for the game at Look for the section titled API.
  • With most games, this will be Microsoft DirectX 10/11/12.
  • Click Finish. ReShade is uninstalled. Be sure to restart your computer.
  • If you have mods for games on Steam, you can easily delete them as well.

Found the solution ---
  1. Uninstall ReShade first (Delete every ReShade Files)
  2. Install 5.9.0 with DirectX (10,11,12) Render API [NOT OpenGL] and click next
  3. Select your desired Packages/Addons and Install
  4. Voila!
OpenGL support has stopped for Cities Skylines!

I've been trying to tweak in-game settings to make it work and find Reshade to be the problem.  Uninstall reshade, no problems.  Reshade 5.9.0 will cause DBD to hard crash randomly, usually on the launcher if you sit for a minute or perhaps in a game (If you get that far).  If the overlay is turned off, sometimes the game will run fine forever but if you turn it back on the problem comes back.

Yeah me too. I’ve verified integrity of game files, restarted my pc, went in the game and played a custom match with bots. Then it crashed midgame. I uninstalled reshade and played custom, the game was completely fine so i think it’s reshade’s problem?

It's ok, I probably hit uninstall to get rid of those old DLLs, just gotta be careful to back .ini files and reshade-shaders, but backing up goes for any application when upgrading :)

Reshade is active on all DX9 games was created by EmperorNiko
My friend has an issue since he used Reshade in one game that now it's active in every game with DX9 that he has now when he's never installed it on them. It's usually ignorable but for some games having AO in the fog in World at War or Starcraft 2 is super obvious and jarring. As far as i know Reshade should only work on the game it's installed on and has a menu to edit but that's not the case here.

Wondering if anyone has experience with this issue and may have a possible fix.
Note that totally uninstalling Reshade doesnt remove this issue.

It was working before, and now it stopped working, as soon i uninstall Reshade it works and loads into Main Menu
I'm using DirectX 12, and renaming the dxgi.dll to d3d11 doesnt work anyway, because Anti Cheat doesnt like it.
None of the logs of the Game or Reshade are helpful, because they all suddenly stop logging without errors or warnings
All Drivers are up2date, means Windows, DirectX, .Net Framework, Graphic Card, etc. - All Overlays are deactivated(checked several times already)

I have Informations from other players, theyre able to use Reshade with the same Version of Reshade and Game etc. without any problems.

So what could be the problem? I literally tried everything possible, i have no idea anymore.

Hello. I'm playing euro trucks simulator 2 and I installed reshade. I installed it with dx11 because ets2 uses dx11. But when I return to ALT+TAB or in-game menu, it kicks me out of the game and crashes occur. I don't have such a problem when I uninstall Reshade. What should I do? I want to use reshade.

Title says it. It worked on previpus updates. I also updated my graphics driver but as i said it always worked on previous updates. Suddenly it stopped working. I uninstalled it completely and tried reinstalling and some older reshade versions. It still doesnt work.

Just run the setup tool again on the same game and when it asks what to do (Modify, Update, Uninstall), select Modify and have it install the "Standard effects" package again.
